Senior Director - ESG
Chris is responsible for accelerating the company’s environmental, social and governance programs while communicating these to external stakeholders. Prior to Applied, Chris most recently served as director of corporate social responsibility at Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. where he led the company’s social investments and its regional response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, Chris led ESG and corporate sustainability programs at eBay Inc. and HP Inc., helping both organizations improve their ESG performance and reporting while achieving the highest recognition from leading external organizations including CDP and DJSI. Chris holds an MBA from the University of Edinburgh and an undergraduate degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania.
Senior ESG Project Manager
Robin joined Applied Materials in 2021 where her role focuses on developing programs to support Applied’s human rights initiatives, ESG communications, and ESG employee engagement efforts. With over twenty years as a sustainability practitioner, the majority of her career centered on implementing sustainability strategy, programs and communications for organizations such as Dwell Magazine, Del Monte Foods, and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Robin holds an MBA in sustainable management from the Presidio Graduate School, and a BA in environmental studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Senior Climate Program Manager
Elena’s role focuses on implementing strategies and driving stakeholder engagement to achieve Applied’s climate-related goals, including reaching Net Zero emissions by 2040, 100% renewable electricity globally by 2030, and meeting interim 2030 Science-Based Targets (SBTs). She also oversees the tracking and reporting of the company’s environmental metrics and performance, and the assessment of climate-related risks and opportunities. She brings over 12 years of experience in sustainability, working with a wide range of companies across sectors to identify and manage the environmental impacts of their operations and supply chains. Prior to Applied, Elena was an Associate Director at Anthesis, a global sustainability consultancy where she focused on supply chain engagement and Scope 3 emissions projects. Before that she worked at the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, helping develop and deploy the Higg Index, a standardized environmental assessment, across the apparel supply chain. Elena holds BAs in Economics and International Relations from the University of California, Davis and is based in Santa Cruz, California.

JUST CAPITAL — Announced its JUST 100 list for the 2025 rankings of America’s most just companies, in partnership with CNBC. Drawing from data from 940 companies across 36 industries, the Top 100 were scored for 17 issues affecting workers, customers, shareholders, communities, and the environment (such as paying a fair wage, treating customers fairly, and prioritizing sustainability). This year 19 CEF members ranked in the JUST 100 list, and six in the Top 20, including: Hewlett Packard Enterprise (#1 for the second year in a row); HP, Inc. (#2); Bank of America (#3); Trane Technologies (#6); Applied Materials (#13); and Alphabet (#19). (Feb 2025)
NEWSWEEK / STATISTA — Published its America’s Most Responsible Companies 2025 list, ranking 600 U.S. companies (out of the 2,000 largest publicly traded companies) on ESG performance. The analysis is based on 30 key performance indicators along with consumer reputation. Merck scored #1, with 97.83 points (out of 100). CEF members in the top 50 include: General Mills (#2), Applied Materials (#4), HP (#6), Mastercard (#7), Hewlett Packard Enterprise (#9), Ecolab (#12), Analog Devices (#13), Qualcomm (#29), Cisco Systems (#31), Visa (#33), CBRE (#35), Apple (#42), and General Motors (#50). Catalyze — CEF members Schneider Electric and Applied Materials, along with Intel, launched this new collaboration to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy across the global semiconductor value chain. The companies will encourage the industry’s thousands of suppliers to join the Catalyze program and decarbonize. Specifically, Catalyze aims to combine energy purchasing power to accelerate deployment; facilitate utility-scale power purchase agreements; increase awareness; and support and educate suppliers in decarbonization efforts.
